I’m Tim, born in 1964 and raised on the beautiful Cape Peninsula. From Kalk Bay to Scarborough, my teenage years were spent exploring these stunning coastal areas. Growing up on the peninsula mountains, I often gazed over the Atlantic, dreaming of far-off lands and new adventures.
After five and a half years in the South African Navy, I took a backpacking trip through Europe. My journey eventually led me to the gaming industry, where I managed boutique casinos in Zambia, Tanzania, and Malawi. This naturally progressed to a shipboard career, and in 1999, I joined Carnival Corporation (US). For the next 24 years, I was blessed to serve as a Casino Manager on many high-end cruise lines, combining my love for travel with the joy of meeting new people and creating unforgettable experiences for them.
My interests include ocean sailing, travelling, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. One of my passions is researching South African history, which is an incredibly rewarding pastime.
Upon returning to South Africa, I qualified as a provincial cultural guide, a role in which I take great pride. I am certified to guide in all South African provinces and love showing visitors the real South Africa. Growing up during the apartheid era and witnessing the birth of the New South Africa, I have a deep appreciation for our country’s rich and complex history.
